Student Life
At Summit, we strive to honor the whole child, so we provide opportunities to grow academically, spiritually, socially, artistically, and athletically. We value play and exploration, but we also offer disciplined academics in the classroom. We're constantly looking at how we can improve our student life offerings and offer more enrichment to our students' lives, so please reach out to learn more about the opportunities we currently have for our Warriors.
Garden
Hard Work and Entrepreneurship
In partnership with the Freedom and Virtue Institute, we have a garden that our middle school students work with a FVI volunteer (who is also a church member of our ministry sponsor, Westminster Presbyterian Church, PCA) and Summit faculty members each week to harvest organically-grown vegetables. The aim of the program is to teach students principles of entrepreneurship and the value of hard work. Our Warriors sell these vegetables at their own farm stand each Friday at dismissal. We hope to add an elementary garden soon!
STEM
Critical Thinking for a Better Tomorrow
In the 2022-2023 school year, we added a STEM elective for all students in grades K-8.
Our primary focus this year has been instructing in engineering principles, but we plan to grow the program in the coming years. We are currently hiring a STEM teacher for the 2023-2024 school year as we strive to grow this important program into one of the highest rated elementary and middle school STEM programs around!
The Arts
Beauty that Lasts a Lifetime
The arts are important to us at Summit. We offer traditional art instruction as well as music and choir classes. This year we added a class set of ukeleles that students in grades 2-8 are learning to play, and we hope to roll out a full band or orchestra program soon!
We see the many (research-proven!) benefits of the arts on student growth and learning, and want every Warrior to gain this important exposure. We also desire to help raise up an "Army of Worshippers" who are equipped to lead Christ's Church in the worship of our Savior!
Athletics
Teamwork for Every Age
We are actively working to grow our athletics programs at Summit. This year we were able to offer basketball and soccer to all age groups (K-8) and cross country, flag football, and track to students in grades 4-8. Next year, we hope to add tennis and golf, as well as another girls' sport such as volleyball (offered this year but there wasn't enough interest for a team) or lacrosse. We're always looking for more coaches to help bring our athletic dreams to life!
